BIOLASE WATERLASE MDX
Understanding Laser Specifications Biolase Waterlase MDX
Wavelength
Every form of electromagnetic energy – from x-rays to visible light to radio waves has its own wavelength, and every wavelength has unique properties. The 2,780nm wavelength is exclusive to Biolase Waterlase MDX laser systems. It was developed by BIOLASE for its superior effectiveness on all tissues dentists need to operate on.
Max Output Power
This is how much laser energy the laser engine can pump out within a given time. While power affects cutting speed, it does not directly determine it.
Pulse Energy
The maximum pulse energy, measured in millijoules (mJ), determines a laser system’s top cutting speed per pulse. It is equal to the laser’s maximum power in Watts (W) divided by the number of pulses per second in Hertz (Hz).
Pulse Rep Rate
The number of times the laser delivers a pulse of cutting energy per second, measured in Hertz (Hz). The higher the pulse rate, the faster the laser will cut. At pulse rates over 30Hz, pulse energy decreases and faster pulse rates may increase patient discomfort when performing a procedures without anesthetic.
Pulse Duration (H–Hard Tissue / S–Soft Tissue)
The length of time the pulse of energy is “on”
Laser Engine
The system’s source of laser energy, laser engines – like car engines – deliver different levels of performance. But, also like car engines you pay for greater performance. The ЯR laser engine used in the Biolase Waterlase MDX and iPlus laser systems is the most advanced available on any dental laser. The MDX’s version is set to run at a lower level than the iPlus.
Fiber
Delivers the laser energy, water, air and illumination to the treatment site. For improved ergonomics, lighter and more flexible is better. The Biolase Waterlase MDX and iPlus use an ultra-thin, titanium clad fiber.
User Interface
How you control the laser system’s many settings to perform procedures. A dashboard lets you adjust each setting individually. A procedure-based graphical user interface “hides” the numbers, automatically adjusting all settings depending on the procedure the clinician selects.
Touchscreen size
The size of the screen increases readability and allows more information to be displayed.
Pre-sets
With a dashboard interface users can store favorite settings for frequently performed procedures. The graphical user interface is fully programed for over 50 procedures, and lets users save customized settings.
Built for speed and productivity.
The Waterlase MDX by Biolase unique, patented combination of a YSGG laser and water spray delivers breakthrough cutting speeds. How fast? Clinicians experience no noticeable difference in speed compared to conventional high-speed drills.
The Biolase Waterlase MDX can perform minimally invasive Class II MO/DO cavity preps in just seconds. It even excels at cutting osseous tissue and it cuts soft tissue faster and with less trauma than soft tissue lasers.
Pays for Itself
With its exceptional versatility, the Biolase Waterlase MDX can quickly pay for itself. By enabling new capabilities such as multi-quadrant dentistry, the Biolase Waterlase MDX brings additional revenue to the practice while reducing the number of patients referred out.
Many procedures can also be performed without anesthetic, so you spend less time waiting to begin working. And of course, any device that reduces the need for anesthetic is also reducing pain and discomfort, something highly attractive to new patients.
